Body of minor recovered from Colorado River following rafting accident

EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- The Eagle County Sheriff's Office said the body of a minor was recovered after hours of searching the Colorado River northwest of Vail. The sheriff's office said the call came in around 11 a.m. that a minor had been separated from a family member while rafting on the Colorado River in Eagle County. Search and rescue crews were deployed immediately, ECSO said. Aurora Fire: 4 people injured in apartment complex fire "In a cooperative effort, responders were able to recover a minor from the river who was not responsive to CPR efforts," the sheriff's office said. The minor was wearing a life vest, the sheriff's office said. Along with the ECSO, the Rock Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Vail Mountain Rescue Group, Eagle County Paramedics, Eagle County Coroner’s Office and the Vail Public Safety Communications Center worked on the rescue/recover incident.Denver weather: Cool and soggy rest of the weekend

OVIEDO, Fla. (WSVN) — A Central Florida mother was arrested after, police said, she left her three children alone in her car while she went into a department store to shoplift. Then the car burst into flames.Video of the blaze showed Alicia Moore’s car fully engulfed in the parking lot of a Dillard’s on Oviedo Mall Boulevard in Seminole County, May 26.Prior to the fire, investigators said, Moore had parked her vehicle, left the children inside and went inside the retailer.The arrest report states, “While inside Dillard’s, loss prevention observed Moore and another unknown male begin to shoplift items. VERNON HILLS, Ill. — A 19-year-old man has been charged after a two-year-old girl was unintentionally shot Friday afternoon in the far north suburbs, according to police.The Vernon Hills Police Department said they were originally called to the 300 block of Plumwood Lane around 2:15 p.m. on a report of a child who had been injured by fireworks, but officers later determined a two-year-old girl had actually been shot.An initial investigation into the event revealed that a loaded pistol left on a bed fired and struck the two-year-old girl in her left arm. As of Saturday evening, it is unknown how the pistol was fired, but the shooting is believed to be unintentional, police said.The two-year-old girl was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center before being flown to Lurie Children's Hospital for specialized care. A heavily caffeine-fueled Kyle Garlick was in the Twins’ starting lineup on Saturday night after being recalled from the Triple-A Saints.
